Qian Zhong (b.1995, Sichuan, China), is currently studying Painting at the Royal College of Art in the UK. Her practice centers on themes of female identity, desire, and psychological tension, using symbolic and emotionally charged imagery to explore the duality between glamour and emptiness. Qian Zhong’s paintings often depict fragmented bodies and surreal compositions that reflect inner conflict and the complexities of self-representation. Prior to her MA, she founded a studio in Chengdu focused on public and community-based art. While her current focus is on painting, her background in large-scale mural work continues to inform her sense of space and visual impact.
For Qian Zhong, art is not only a medium for personal exploration but also a powerful tool for communication and connection, allowing her to confront social phenomena and navigate collective imagery.
---“Painting, for me, is a space of negotiation—a means to question, disrupt, and reimagine how women’s bodies and identities are framed in contemporary culture. I aim to create work that is visually compelling yet emotionally and psychologically charged.”
